A Twitter Discovery

One of the things I like about Twitter is the sheer variety of unexpected information you can stumble upon. Today, for example, I saw a twitter from Neil Gaiman (who is currently on a tour promoting either his book or the movie Coraline which is based on his book of the same name, I didn't investigate which.)

I saw this Tweet and had to check it out. I found video clips of Neil Gaiman himself reading his 2009 Newbery award winning book The Graveyard Book. He was videotaped reading on a book tour, one chapter at each location and they were then put up on The Official Neil Gaiman Page for Young Readers at Harper Collins where you can listen to the whole book. So much for productivity for me this Saturday, but I am really enjoying being read to. What an expected pleasure!

Books and Movies

With a movie coming out based on the book Coraline by Neil Gaiman, HarperCollins provided the content of the book online to read before the movie release complete with a widget to add to your website.

Kudos to them for their smart marketing move, both in promoting the movie as well as selling more books. Those of us who are voracious readers and love literature will buy a copy of the book if we don't have it already. I'm going to head on over to Amazon to order my copy right now.

Peanuts & Peanut Butter Cravings

I can go for months at a time without eating peanut butter or peanuts. Why is it then that I suddenly have a craving for one of my old favorites a peanut butter sandwich with cream of tomato soup? Could it be related to all the news stories about salmonella and peanuts which have been making all things peanut front page news? In an abundance of caution, I'm not having any but I sure do crave it. If you've never tried the combination, you don't know what you're missing. But now's not a good time to try it.

I found this widget from the FDA to help keep track of the problem products.

Introducing Molly

Molly is a puggle (pug & beagle mix) who was to be a companion to DJ's other grandfather, but she was too much of a handful for him so she has temporary digs with DJ. She's cute as a bug's ear with a very loving, gentle personality.
